Setting up Authenticated SMTP in Mail (OSX) Older Versions
- Open Mail and select Preferences from the Mail menu.
- Select your account and click the Edit button
- Under Receiving Mail ensure your full email address is listed for the Account ID (eg. username@csolve.net )
- Below Sending Mail select "Use authentication when sending" and type your username as listed above and password in the spaces provided
- Click OK
Setting up Authenticated SMTP in Mail (OSX) Newer Versions
- Open Mail and select Preferences from the Mail menu.
- Select the Accounts tab and then select your account in the Accounts window.
- Under Outgoing Mail Server, click Server Settings.
- Confirm that the Outgoing Mail Server is correct
- Under the Authentication pull down, select Password.
- Enter your username and password and click OK
- Click OK
- Close the Preferences window and select Save, when prompted
