Dial-Up Networking Setup Instructions
Setup on Mac OS 9.2
Setting Up Remote Access PPP
- Open the Control Panel and select PPP or Remote Access.
- Select Registered User.
- Type your Compu-SOLVE username, password, and access telephone number from your Internet Code Sheet. Make sure that you enter your username and password in lowercase letters as they are case sensitive.
- Click the Options button and click the Connection tab.
- Select, Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications. This will cause PPP to dial whenever you launch and Internet application. The other options are a matter of preference and do not necessarily have to be selected.
- Click the Protocols tab and select the options for Allow error correction and compression in modem and Use TCP/ IP header compression. Remove the option to connect to a command line host and click the OK button.
Setting up TCP/IP
You can only change the settings if you're in Administration Mode. To get there select User mode from the Edit menu and select Administration. Make sure you don't set a password...it's just one more thing to forget. If you set a password and forget it, you can drag the TCP/IP preferences to the trash, empty the trash, and reconfigure TCP/IP.
- Open Control Panel and select TCP/IP and make the following changes.
- Connect via PPP
- Configure should be set to Using PPP server
- For the Name Server Address type the Primary and the Secondary DNS number from your Internet Code Sheet.
- Type csolve.net to the Search Domains.
