New Telephone scam circulating, claiming you won a trip to Florida or Antigua
A new telephone scam is circulating, and recent reports have been noted within our community.
Please be reminded that it is not advisable to give unknown callers access to your computer remotely, or to give credit card information.
The scam involves the caller claiming that you have one a trip to Florida or Antigua. They have your contact information and reference Compu-SOLVE.
If you receive a call of this nature it is advisable to simply end the call.

Telephone scam circulating again, claiming to offer technical support
A known telephone scam is circulating once again, and recent reports have been noted within our community.
Please be reminded that it is not advisable to give unknown callers access to your computer remotely, or to give credit card information.
The scam involves the caller claiming to be a representative of Microsoft, or your Internet provider. The basic claim they make is that your computer may have a virus and they want to assist you in resolving that. They offer to do a series of checks and install internet protection software over the phone. The conversation ends with the caller asking for payment with a credit card for their services.
If you receive a call of this nature it is advisable to simply end the call.

- ATTENTION DIAL-UP CLIENTS
Effective January 15, 2011 business and residential users in the 705 region will be required to dial 10 digits -- the area code followed by the phone number.
To verify that you are using the 10 digit phone number, open your dial-up connection to Compu-SOLVE Technologies, Inc., and before you connect, verify that the dial-up number includes 705.
If the dial number shown is less than 10 digits, and does not begin with 705, then move your cursor to the front of the existing phone number and type in 705, then click on dial. You may be prompted to save your changes.

- PHISHING ATTEMPTS:
DO NOT SEND PASSWORD Information.
A new phishing attempt is currently circulating, claiming to be from Compu-SOLVE, and warning WebMail customers of account removal if a response is not sent. E-mails of this nature are a scam and should be deleted.
Some obvious warning signs of illegitimate messages are:
- poor spelling and grammar
- urgency to send secure information
- threat of severe negative consequences of not complying to the request
- vague signature
- improper use/format of the company name
Compu-SOLVE Internet Services will NEVER request verification of your information in this manner. If you receive anything that claims to be from Compu-SOLVE Internet Services, there will be supporting information on our web site if it is legitimate. Please be cautious when replying to any communication that requests secure information.
